5 June: in Mantua the closing event of the Link Campus University’s European BUTH-AI project: a discussion on Artificial Intelligence, law and society
On 5 June 2026, the event ‘Beyond the Algorithm: AI from Theory to Practical Application’ was held in the Sala degli Stemmi at Palazzo Soardi. This marked the concluding event of the European BUTH-AI project – Building Trust in Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence – promoted by Link Campus University as part of its Jean Monnet activities.
The initiative provided an opportunity for interdisciplinary synthesis and discussion on the themes of Artificial Intelligence, with a particular focus on the legal, ethical, economic and social implications of emerging technologies. The aim was to encourage concrete reflection on the impact of AI on contemporary society, promoting a human-centric, responsible and sustainable approach.
The event brought together representatives from academia, institutions, the legal profession, the business sector and public administration, creating a forum for dialogue dedicated to the challenges posed by digital transformation and the opportunities offered by technological innovation. Particular attention was paid to the issues of AI governance, the protection of fundamental rights, ethics as applied to new technologies, the impact on employment and businesses, as well as the prospects for using AI in public services and decision-making processes.
The meeting forms part of the programme of outreach and scientific analysis promoted by the BUTHAI project, which aims to raise awareness of the role of Artificial Intelligence within the European context and to develop models of innovation based on trust, transparency and the centrality of the individual.
